The Lens Men and The Eye Site Care-a-Van

The Lens Men and The Eye Site proudly present... Singapore's first and only mobile eye screening clinic!

To exponentially increase the number of needy Singaporeans we provide free primary eye care to each year across the country, we are excited to launch the country's first ever mobile eye screening clinic - the Eye Care-a-Van! Innovatively fitted with an auto-refractor, lensmeter, eye chart projector, ophthalmological equipment and other tools, the state-of-the-art Care-a-Van aims to facilitate comprehensive examinations for ocular health, refraction, V/A reading and chart reading anywhere on the island in a professional and comfortable setting. The Eye Care-a-Van was officially launched by Dr. Lee Boon Yang, Minister for Information, Communications and the Arts and Adviser to Jalan Besar Grassroots Organisations on October 5, 2008. On the same day, the Eye Care-a-Van embarked on its community service mission with a free eye screening event for 157 invited elderly and needy Jalan Besar residents on October 5, 2008.

Founded on a philosophy of "Not just eye care - we care," The Lens Men has a long tradition of giving back to the community since it opened for business in 1983. Conducting free eye screenings for approximately 1,000 underprivileged Singaporeans a year, we donate more than 500 prescription spectacles annually to those who need vision correction but cannot afford it on their own. With the Eye Care-a-Van, we hope to increase the number of Singaporeans we help by at least 30 percent, especially those who are immobile and have difficulty commuting. It is our strong belief that excellent primary eye care by certified professionals is not a luxury, but a basic need.

Please feel free to contact us if you would like to schedule an eye screening for a needy patient or for your community service organisation, nursing home, hospital, school or other charity. We are also more than happy to conduct group screenings for corporate and civil organisations. Due to a busy eye screening schedule, we will always give priority to underprivileged patients.
