Making History
Congratulations to Professor Au Eong Kah Guan and his team for chronicling the history of optometry and opticianry in Singapore in their book Primary Eye Care In Singapore: Looking Back Looking Forward. Launched September 11, 2008 at the 7th National Congress of Optometry and Opticianry, The Lens Men is proud to have contributed to this very important industry for the last 43 years.
September 11, 2008 — In a section featuring local figures in the optical trade, managing director Peter Koh explains why he is passionate about practising professional eye care in Singapore: "Founded on the philosophy of "Not just eye care - we care," my favourite part of being an optical professional and retailer is ensuring my dedicated team of optometrists and opticians always provides the highest level of eye care possible, complemented by our landmark personalised service. Now in the third generation of enterprise, our family business is inspired by my father Koh Ping who started it as a lens workshop in Geylang. We continue to embrace his values daily -- compassion and care, which we extend to needy Singaporeans by donating an average of 300 spectacles a year and conducting free eye screenings. It's our belief that eye care is a basic need, not a luxury."
