Brightening Vision at Bedok Radiance Seniors Activity Centre

At the Bedok Radiance Seniors Activity Centre on September 8, 2008, The Eye Site manager/optician Andrew Fong and The Lens Men -- Parkway Parade optician Poon Cheng Boon examined 26 senior citizens on public assistance and found 16 in need of corrective vision -- particularly for nearsightedness.

September 10, 2008 —

We noticed a continuing trend of elderly people who accepted that poor vision is an expected ailment related to old age that cannot be fixed -- in fact, many initially decline spectacles because they believe that not much can be done to improve their eyesight. However, after undergoing the eye test, they are literally able to see that with the right diagnosis and prescription, reading or doing activities in close visual range need not be a challenge. We know that when they receive their donated spectacles from us, with the help of Essilor Singapore and Ning Kwong Optical, the new sharpness in near vision will brighten up their day and make it easier and more enjoyable to go about their daily lives.
