"I like to give my very best each time I pick up the racquet," says Peter, who can be found playing several badminton games a day at SSC, five evenings a week. "But nothing beats a big feast with your buddies after a hard fight on the court."
And feast they did, as all six clubs in the league gathered in the SSC grand ballroom to enjoy a spread from Waldorf salad and a carving station to braised lamb rack and the ever-popular sago gula melaka. After six representatives belted it out for the karaoke contest, 40 prizes were given away in the lucky draw, including badminton equipment, household appliances and liquor. And then came the true test of badminton skills - players from each club served across the stage as a teammate caught shuttlecocks in a box. SSC and Mayflower tied the contest, after battling down to catching the shuttlecocks in wine glasses.
"There isn't a more perfect way to celebrate the goodwill and brotherhood in sports," says Peter. "Although we all want to bring the challenge trophy home to our respective clubs, everyone is a winner in this league with good sportsmanship. There's nothing like the fun of making a new friend."
