The Lens Men and The Eye Site Bring "Bright Vision" to Senior Citizens

Many of Bright Vision Hospital's patients are elderly and on public assistance, with no relatives to care for them or sufficient income for medical bills or even day-to-day living. On January 17, The Lens Men and The Eye Site optometrists conducted a free eye screening of 15 patients to check on their eye health and determine the vision correction needed. We received a lovely letter of thanks from the hospital.

January 21, 2008 —

Unfortunately, just one of the senior citizens screened by The Eye Site optometrists Roger Lim and Jeremiah Lim and The Lens Men optometrist Rachel Neubroner was found to have good vision -- we discovered several patients with cataracts, who must be referred to ophthalmologists for further treatment, as well as others who need near, distance and other vision correction that The Lens Men and The Eye Site will be sponsoring. Working with elderly and physically disabled patients is always an unusual challenge, as many are immobile and may not be able to visit our stores easily for more concise eye examinations and prescrription spectacle dispensing. With the help of medical social worker Errol Fernando, we will be coordinating transportation or additional visits to the hospital to ensure these special patients receive the eye care they need and deserve.
