We don't know if the kids were more excited to get new glasses or for the Burger King lunch we treated them to, but one thing's certain -- everyone will have great vision when school starts next week!
The Lens Men - Parkway Parade and The Eye Site opticians and optometrists spent Thursday morning testing the eyes of kids of primary and secondary school age who either greatly needed new prescriptions or suffered from bad eyesight and had not been able to afford vision care. Our examinations found that most of the children could not see optimally, even those who already had glasses, because their sight had grown worse -- one girl had a degree of close to -5.00 in both eyes and was struggling to see in school and do her homework. We hope that their new spectacles will enable them to better study and learn, enjoy extra-curricular activities and of course, sports and play! Jamiyah Children's Home cares for orphans and children from disadvantaged families, regardless of race or religion.
The eyeglasses dispensed to these children will be donated in the names of customers participating in our The Gift of Sight holiday charity campaign. To join in, simply spend at least $500 at any of The Lens Men or The Eye Site locations, and your purchase will enable an underprivileged child or senior citizen to receive much-needed eye care, courtesy of us. The campaign closes on January 1, 2008.
