The Lens Men Help Set "Eyes Right for the New Year"
To kick off The Gift of Sight holiday charity campaign on November 16, The Lens Men opticians Poon Cheng Boon and Doriza Lee and The Eye Site optometrist Roger Lim screened eyes and provided vision care advice at the second annual "Eyes Right For the New Year" event for Friends @ St. Hilda's, a community services centre for residents of the Kampong Arang neighbourhood.
November 18, 2007 —Focusing on senior citizens and some children, a total of 46 people received free examinations over four hours. Unfortunately, an old lady was detected with a cataract, but we were able to refer her to an opthalmologist for treatment. Hopefully with early detection, treatment can be effective.
Residents requiring vision correction or new eyeglass prescriptions will be referred to The Lens Men or The Eye Site for dispensing. We are happy to provide full sponsorships for patients who are unable to pay for their eyeglasses, and subsidies for those who cannot afford the full amount.
